On the morning of May 20th, the opening ceremony of 2019 Summer Camp for Visitors from the Confucius Institute at Denver Community College in the United States was held at University of Jinan. Lu Jiansheng, leading teacher, along with all campers, relevant staff from International Office of UJN, School of International Education and Exchange, Institute of Physical Education, College of Fine Arts and student volunteer representatives from UJN International Exchange Association, attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Xu Gang, deputy director of International Office of UJN, extended his sincere welcome to all participants in the summer camp. He said that, since the founding of the Confucius Institute at the Denver Community College, it has made great efforts to organize all kinds of Chinese language education activities, continuously deepening special development; starting from Chinese language, then blending in the culture, it has built a bridge between people's hearts and minds; it has become a window for local people in Denver and nearby areas to get to know China and has promoted exchange between diverse civilizations. This year’s summer camp aims to provide campers with opportunities to closely learn about Chinese culture. It is hoped that all campers will experience the culture in depth, learn comprehensively, promote exchanges between two countries through young people’s communication, and one day become friendly messengers in cultural exchanges between China and the United States.

Lu Jiansheng, leading teacher of the summer camp, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to UJN for all the thoughtful arrangements. He hoped that all campers would cherish this precious opportunity, improve their Chinese proficiency and cultural accomplishment. The campers and student volunteers of UJN all said that they would make full use of this opportunity for learning and communication to strengthen the bonds between the two organizations and to promote the deep friendship between two sides.

The total 16 campers in this year’s summer camp will stay in China for 13 days and take part in all kinds of activities. As an annual exchange program of Confucius Institutes, the summer camp activities were funded by Hanban. During nearly two weeks, the campers will take special cultural courses such as Chinese language, calligraphy, painting, Tai Chi and cucurbit flute in our school. They will also go to Hanban, Qufu and other places to observe and study in the field, and fully experience the profound Chinese culture.
