The Seventh Freshmen Chorus Festival of UJN themed as Carry forward Anti-epidemic Spirit and Take on Youth Mission Came to a successful end. The activity vividly conveyed the touching stories happened in the fight against Covid-19 and reproduced national unity of China in hard times. As required by epidemic prevention and control, the Communist Youth League of UJN encouraged freshmen to sing college anthem and patriotic songs with new forms organized by Youth League branch, dormitories and small groups, and to upload videos to the Wechat platform of Communist Youth League to exhibit.
Since the opening of the Festival on September 23, students have vigorously participated into the activities of singing, recording and showing songs, which expressed a strong passion for their country and college, as well as their ambition to fight against COVID-19. Those songs reflected the speed, scale, and strength of China unseen in the rest of the world and the great spirit forged in the fight against the epidemic. The Chorus Festival, was timed to coincide with the 72th anniversary of UJN, which was a special gift from students to their alma master. The rhyme of the school anthem echoed around Jiazi Lake and Qinglong Mountain.
These songs such as Heart with Heart is the Whole World, Thank You, Great Wall, Our Motherland Knows had reflected the joint efforts against Covid-19; The Mortal World and the Blocked City expressed the harmony of our society in hard time during epidemic; Spring Blossoms and Imagination showed the flourishing atmosphere after the epidemic; Striding to Rejuvenation and We are all Dream Pursuer embodied the Chinese national spirit of braveness and courage when facing danger and difficulty, bringing abundant vitality of new era for people; I Love You China and Motherland expressed determination and ambition of young people to realize the Chinese Dream and the best wishes towards their motherland.
The Chorus Festival lasted for 34 days, involving over 8000 freshmen from 19 schools to participate. Young students saluted to the brave with their songs and showed their strong patriotism, and professional judges gave their scores to evaluate the works submitted. Business School, School of Political Science and Law, School of Education and Psychology, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, School of Music won the First Prize; School of Biological Science and Technology, School of Information Science and Engineering, School of Liberal Arts, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, College of Culture and Tourism and School of Physics and Technology won the Second Prize; School of Mathematical Science, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Material Science and Engineering, School of Water Conservancy and Environment, School of Foreign Languages, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Fine Arts and Design, and Institute of Physical Education won the Third Prize.
In order to increase the interest of the competition, network voting was adopted for online exhibited works. The platform received more than 48,000 votes and 85,000 views. Combined with the number of students of every school, votes and scores of their works, Our Flag submitted by School of Civil Engineering and Architecture won the Most Popular Work among Students, Striding to Rejuvenation submitted by Business School won the Best Audio and Video Effect Prize, and the Blocked City and Motherland from School of Political Science and Law won the Best Spiritual Connotation Prize.
The Freshmen Chorus Festival of UJN, which has started since 2013, is one of the unique cultural brands of UJN. The festival of this year roots in vivid materials of the fight against COVID-19 and passes on the valuable spirit through activities and songs. It is the first time to promote through Wechat platform of Communist Youth League of UJN, which has gained great popularity among teachers and students.
