Confucius Institute at Marien Ngouabi University, the Republic of Congo



The Confucius Institute at Marien Ngouabi University, the Republic of Congo, is jointly established by University of Jinan, China and Marien Ngouabi University, the Republic of Congo.

The opening ceremony of the institute was held on June 15th, 2012 at Marien Ngouabi University during the visit of the delegation from University of Jinan, led by Prof. Fan Yuejin, Chairman of University Council.

The institute was put into operation in June, 2013 after one year's preparation. By the end of 2015, 715 students have registered to study Chinese language and culture at the Confucius Institute. Among the students, 27 were awarded Confucius Institute Scholarship by Hanban and went to China. 45 students from the Republic of Congo are studying in University of Jinan for degree-study and non-degree-study owing to the Confucius Institute. By now 4 delegations including 73 teachers and students have visited China for short-term cultural experience with the support of Hanban. In addition, University of Jinan has sent 2 Chinese directors, 2 teachers and 5 volunteers successively to work at the Confucius Institute.

The Confucius Institute at Marien Ngouabi University is the only one in Republic of Congo. As the platform of cultural cooperation and exchanges, The Confucius Institute will play greater roles in strengthening mutual understanding, enhancing the cooperation and promoting the friendship among the people of the two nations. With the outstanding efforts and performance, Confucius Institute at Marien Ngouabi University was ranked as the Model Confucius Institute by Hanban in 2015.
