School of Civil Engineering and Architecture

The School of Civil Engineering and Architecture in University of Jinan was originally established in 1983. At present, the school hosts four undergraduate programs of Civil Engineering, Water Science and Engineering, Architecture and Urban-Rural Planning. Among the following programs, Water Science and Engineering is awarded as Famous-brand major of Shandong Province in 2009 and Civil Engineering is awarded as characteristic major of Shandong Province in 2013. The School offers eight Master degree programs of the first-level civil engineering discipline including Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Heat Supply Engineering, Gas Supply Engineering, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering, and Disaster Prevention and Protection Engineering and Bridge & Tunnel Engineering. Also the school offers degree programs for Master in engineering for the two fields of Architecture & Civil Engineering and Project Management. Currently there are over 2000 undergraduate and graduate students in the school.

There are 87 members of faculty and staff in the school with the representatives of outstanding middle-aged expert and Teaching Celebrities authorized by Shandong province. More than 50% teachers are associate professors or above and 30 teachers have got the doctor degree by the end of 2013. The school owns an experimental center of fundamental mechanics and other seven scientific laboratories including Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Water Science and Engineering, Architecture, etc. The school has developed several research institutes such as Shandong Province Technical Research Center of Supporting and Risk Control for Urban Underground Engineering, Institute of Structural Evaluation and Retrofitting, Institute of Urban Environment and Geotechnical Engineering and Research Institute of Water Treatment.

The school has been granted with over 30 National Science Foundation projects and provincial science funding projects, more than 10 Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Awards, dozens of patents in recent years and about 200 academic papers indexed by EI and SCI have been published in both national and international journals. As a result of remarkable progress in the field of teaching reformation, the school has achieved 4 National/Provincial Excellent Courses, a Provincial Teaching Team and a second prize of Provincial Teaching Achievement in the later years. Our students have won first prize of National Challenge Cup and other provincial prizes in all kinds of innovation contests and the employment rate of undergraduate students has been keeping as high as 95%.
